中国足球超级联赛（Chinese Super League，简称为CSL）是由中国足球协会组织的，中国最优秀的职业足球俱乐部参加的全国最高水平的足球职业联赛，仿照英格兰足球超级联赛，简称为中超联赛。该联赛开始于2004年，前身为原中国足球甲级A组联赛。第一届计划有12只球队参加，前两届暂停降级制度，于2006年恢复升降级。

1、级别不同
中国足球协会甲级联赛（ChineseFootballAssociationChinaLeague）简称“中甲”，是由中国足球协会组织的，由国内职业足球俱乐部参加的全国第二级别的足球职业联赛，仅次于中国足球超级联赛。
中国足球协会超级联赛（ChineseFootballAssociationSuperLeague），简称“中超”，参赛球队数固定在16支，是中国大陆地区最高级别的职业足球联赛（中国香港、中国澳门、中国台湾有直属于国际足联与亚足联的足协与联赛。
2、比赛赛制不同
中甲联赛采取主客双循环赛制比赛，每支队伍与各球队对赛两次，主客各一次。
中超联赛以主客场双循环的方式进行，全赛季共30轮，240场比赛，并实施“升二降二”的升降级制度，即当赛季排名末两名球队降至下赛季中甲联赛，当赛季中甲联赛前两名球队升至下赛季中超联赛。

(2)下设至少5支不同年龄层次的青少年梯队。
