12月10日中午，UFC格斗之夜233在美国打响。本期头条主赛是雏量级对决，由排名第7的宋亚东对阵排名第14的古铁雷斯。经过五回合较量，宋亚东大比分击败古铁雷斯，斩获两连胜。本场比赛原本是UFC上海站，由于种种因素的影响未能举办。
其中头条主赛，UFC原定计划安排宋亚东与彼得·严一战，但后者状态不好，使这场比赛夭折，最终古铁雷斯替补出战。古铁雷斯在今年10月判定击败阿拉腾黑力，拿到职业生涯中第20场胜利，给中国拳迷留下深刻的印象。他的排名也来到了该级别第14位。
宋亚东的职业生涯：
宋亚东，1997年12月2日出生于黑龙江省哈尔滨市呼兰区，中国综合格斗运动员。现效力于阿尔法领头羊战队。2012年，宋亚东签约天津K-1搏击俱乐部。曾参加锐武、真武魂、ONE冠军赛、武林笼中对、UFC等职业综合格斗赛事。2017年11月25日，在上海举行的UFC终极格斗冠军赛中，宋亚东降服印度选手，并获得“最佳”花红。
2018年6月23日，在新加坡举行的UFC格斗之夜132的比赛中，宋亚东战胜巴西老将，并再次获得“最佳”花红。2019年7月10日，UFC官方排名更新，中国小将宋亚东排名雏量级第13位，成为首位进入UFC官方排名前15位的中国男选手。2022年3月15日，UFC官方网站更新了各重量级最新排名，中国选手宋亚东上升至第九位。
